The most popular form of poker game being played today is Texas Holdem Poker both online and offline, because it is quite easy to learn and play.
Texas hold 'em Poker is usually played in four different rounds that are defined by the cards turned up. The cards in the middle are used by all the players to make the best hand possible. The player with the top hand ranking after all the rounds are completed wins the game.
Texas Holdem Poker is usually played with 8 players at a poker table. The table has a dealer. In the first round, each player is dealt two cards by the dealer. These cards are only visible to the player, and the first round of betting starts. A check occurs when a player does not wish to raise and has already put in the amount of money needed to meet the last bet. Once all the players have decided to fold, check, or bet, the dealer puts three community cards face up in the middle of the table. This is known as the flop, and the player decides to take his or her chances or fold. After the flop the dealer places a single card face up. Again there is betting, and the final card turned over is known as the river. If there is still more than one player left, it's time to call for a showdown.
There are two major variations of Texas Holdem Poker, Limit Holdem Poker and No Limit Holdem Poker.
In Limit Hold 'em Poker, there are set amounts that a player can raise at any one time, as well as rules governing how many betting rounds can take place during each round of play.
In No Limit Holdem Poker, there are no rules placed on bets or amount of bets. Betting increases by any amount until all players have either called or folded.
There are 3 basic poker rules that should be considered when playing Texas Holdem game:
1. Starting Hands: Value the starting cards and consider whether you should play the hand or not. If you are dealt an ace-ace you have much greater chance of winning the hand. If you were dealt a starting hand of 7-2 then you have the least chance of winning the hand.
2. Patience: The key to the game is to remain patient. Stay disciplined and keep folding low starting hands until you receive a good starting hand.
3. Playing Position: With Texas Holdem a player’s playing position at the poker table adds to its advantage. Players seated in a far position have a greater advantage as they can consider all the moves of all players prior to making a decision.
So go ahead, follow the rules, practice the game and lead towards the winning path.
