Poker Game Variations

 

The game of poker consists of many different variations of the game. In total there are more than 120 forms of poker but only a few are played by the regular poker players. The most popular forms of poker are Texas Hold’em, Omaha Hold’em, Seven-Card Stud and Draw poker.

The most common types of poker games are the draw poker, holdem poker and stud poker. The different variations of these different poker games are also given below.

 

DRAW POKER VARIATIONS

Draw Poker games are the poker games where players get at least one opportunity to discard a certain number of cards from their hand in exchange for new cards from the deck. The various draw poker variations are:

 

5 Card Draw: In this poker variation, the highest hand wins, the ace plays both high and low for straights and the players act clockwise from the dealer.

Acey-Deucy: In this poker variation, the highest hand wins, the ace plays both high and low for straights, the aces and two’s are considered wild and the players act clockwise from the dealer.

Anaconda (Pass the Trash): In this poker variant, the highest hand wins, the ace plays both high and low for straights and the players act clockwise from the dealer.

Five & Dimes: In this poker variation, the highest hand wins, the ace plays both high and low for straights, the Fives and Tens are considered wild and the players act clockwise from the dealer.

Lowball: In this poker variation, the lowest hand wins, the ace plays both high and low for straights and the players act clockwise from the dealer.

 

HOLDEM POKER VARIATIONS

Holdem Poker is a combination of community cards and the use of blind bets in place of antes. The various holdem poker variations are:

 

Omaha High: In this poker variation, the highest hand wins, the players use two of their hole cards combined with three to make their highest and lowest hands. Also any two of the players four cards can be used for high, and any two can be used for low. The ace plays both high and low.

Omaha High Low: In this poker variation the highest hand splits the pot with the lowest qualifying low hand. Players use two of their hole cards combined with three to make their highest and lowest hands. Any two of the players four cards can be used for high, and any two can be used for low.

Pyramid: In this poker variation the highest hand wins, the ace plays both high and low for straights and the players act clockwise from the dealer.

Texas Hold'em: It is the most common poker variation In this game, the highest hand wins. The players may use one, both or neither of their hole cards to make their highest hand. Ace plays both high and low for straights. And the players act clockwise from the dealer.

 

STUD POKER VARIATIONS

Stud Poker games are games where each player has a certain number of cards face-down and a certain number of cards face-up. The face-down cards are cards that only each player can see. The face-up cards are the ones that all players can see. The various stud poker variations are:

 

5 Card Stud: In this poker variation, the highest hand wins, the ace plays both high and low for straights and there are three raises limit per round.

7 Card Stud: In this poker variation, the highest hand wins, ace plays both high and low for straights, three raise per round are allowed with a compulsory Ante.

7 Card Stud High Low: In this poker variation the highest hand splits the pot with the lowest qualifying low hand. Players may use any five of their hole cards to make their highest and lowest hands. And the ace plays both high and low.
